U20 European Championship
|Furkan Aldemir grabbing a rebound against the big guys of Germany - an action that was repeated another 24 times in the same game|
The game between Turkey and Germany on Day Six of the U20 European Championship in Bilbao saw Turkey's Furkan Aldemir set up an individual record and at the same time better any player that stepped on the floor of a European Championship at this age group before him.
Furkan pulled down 25 rebounds in Wednesday's win and improved the previous record that was set in 2008 by Romania's Titus Nicoara when the Romanian big guy had 23 rebounds in a Division B game.
On his way to collect 25 balls from the boards Aldemir grabbed no less than 15 rebounds on offense - his speciality - and with that tied the record set by Yavor Ivanov of Bulgaria back in 2003.
Today's performance also give Aldemir a seat in the list of top rebounders of all youth competitions.
In 2006 England's Daniel Clark grabbed 27 rebounds in a U18 European Championship Division B game against Luxembourg, five players pulled down 26 rebounds while Aldemir joins six more players who totalled 25 rebounds in a single game.
